Welcome to the website of ASPAB, the Australasian Society for Phycology and Aquatic Botany. We are a professional scientific association drawing members mainly from Australia and New Zealand, but welcoming anyone who has an interest in the biology of photosynthetic aquatic organisms in this part of the world.
ASPAB members work on aquatic organisms from microalgae to macroalgae, and from freshwater to marine environments. The huge diversity of habitat in our region, and our very extensive coastlines, means there is plenty to do.
Members communicate via our listserv and the ASPAB newsletter, which keeps us in touch with events and activities in our region. An annual conference is held every year - check the conference page to see where the next one will be. We offer travel funding to student members, and a friendly professional community to all.
Please take a few minutes to look through our website. We welcome comments and input from members and non-members. And do send any relevant news, publications, conference announcements, images, suggestions etc. to our Webmaster, so that we can provide good up to date information on the site.
Judy Sutherland, ASPAB President
